The Detroit Regional Chamber has expressed its commitment to maintaining a strong democracy, emphasizing the importance of an informed and engaged citizenry for economic growth. As election results continue to be finalized, the Chamber reflected on the integrity and success of recent election processes.
The organization highlighted the efficiency of vote tabulations and credited election reforms approved by voters in 2018 and 2022 for streamlining the count. These reforms include early voting and no-reason absentee voting, supported by pre-processing laws passed by the legislature.
The Chamber commended Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and her team at the Michigan Department of State for conducting a peaceful, secure, fair, safe, and accessible election. They also acknowledged the hard work of local clerks, election workers, and volunteers who ensured these processes were upheld.
Recognizing that counting and certification take time, the Chamber called for continued patience and respect for these procedures to maintain electoral integrity.
