The Detroit Regional Chamber Political Action Committee (PAC) has endorsed Mike Duggan for the 2026 Michigan gubernatorial election. The decision was made unanimously by PAC members.

Duggan, known for his executive-level business experience and tenure as mayor, is running an independent campaign. He previously led the Detroit Medical Center and served on the Detroit Regional Chamber Board of Directors.

Sandy K. Baruah, Chamber President and CEO, stated: “The Chamber and businesses across the state are growing increasingly concerned about the inability of our political parties to find common ground and move Michigan forward.” He praised Duggan's ability to unite people toward common goals.

Under Duggan’s leadership, Detroit has seen significant revitalization. His focus on fiscal stability and economic development has fostered a favorable environment for business investment and residential growth.

David Foltyn, Chairman of Honigman and the Chamber PAC, remarked: “Mayor Duggan’s tenure in Detroit has been a case study in effective, consistent leadership.” He expressed confidence in Duggan's ability to create a stable, pro-growth environment statewide.

The Chamber PAC first endorsed Duggan during his 2013 write-in campaign for Detroit Mayor. Members believe he will bring data-driven leadership to Michigan as a whole.

The race to succeed Gov. Gretchen Whitmer includes many long-time friends of the Chamber. However, current times call for bold thinking from organizations like the Detroit Regional Chamber to help Michigan reach its potential.
