U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district and has served in Congress since 2019, recently used her social media platform to address issues ranging from consumer protection to community remembrance and health care policy.

On September 3, 2025, Tlaib voiced concerns about the impact of dynamic pricing in grocery stores. She stated, "Imagine needing to buy water on a hot day only to find the price went up because of the weather or worse, because a company decided YOU should pay more because of your search history. This is wrong. My bill bans electronic shelf labels and surveillance pricing in grocery stores."

The following day, Tlaib paid tribute to a Detroit community figure with her post: "Ignacio “Ziggy” Gonzalez was a guiding light for Detroit’s youth. From the classroom in Southwest Detroit to the rink, “Mr. G” lifted generations with love, humor & faith in their potential. His spirit lives on in every life he touched and in the work of the Clark Park Coalition." The tweet was posted on September 4, 2025.

Later that same day, Tlaib criticized Republican fiscal policies related to health care funding: "Republicans gave $5 TRILLION to billionaires and are paying for it by ripping health care from 17 million Americans. That means cuts to Medicaid and 450,000 Michiganders at risk. But we’re not backing down and we will keep fighting to make health care a human right."

Tlaib’s career includes previous service in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014 before joining Congress in 2019. She was born in Detroit in 1976 and continues to reside there. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University (1998) and a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2004).
