On May 13, 2025, Senator Theis remarked that it was Budget Day in the Michigan Senate and criticized Democrats for allegedly pushing forward "bloated, big-government budget plans." She assured constituents that she and her Republican colleagues would continue to fight back by offering what she described as "common-sense alternatives that protect taxpayers".

Later that day, Senator Theis tweeted about an amendment proposed by Senate Republicans. This amendment aimed to restrict funds from Governor Whitmer’s “Office of Global Michigan” to individuals legally residing in the state. According to Theis, every Democrat voted against this amendment. She interpreted this decision as allowing tax dollars to potentially benefit illegal immigrants, stating "your tax dollars can go to illegal immigrants".

In another tweet posted shortly thereafter, Senator Theis expressed her disapproval of a decision made by Michigan Senate Democrats. She reported that they voted in favor of continuing the use of taxpayer money to pay rent for illegal immigrants. She called for prioritizing Michigan residents and urged an end to what she termed as "this insanity".
