The Detroit Regional Chamber has announced Megan Spanitz as its new Chief Operating Officer. This appointment follows the retirement of Tammy Carnrike, effective June 30. Spanitz, who currently serves as the chamber's chief strategy officer, has been with the organization since 1999. Her responsibilities include ensuring revenue growth, operational efficiency, and strategic planning.
Spanitz also plays a key role in organizing the annual Mackinac Policy Conference, which takes place from May 27-30 on Mackinac Island. Over the past decade, she has contributed to raising the conference's profile.
Sandy K. Baruah, president and CEO of the Detroit Regional Chamber, expressed confidence in Spanitz's leadership: “Given Megan’s double-decade tenure and impact at the chamber, she is the logical choice to lead the organization’s operations and strategy into the future, and has the strong support of our board’s leadership in doing so.”
Baruah further stated that as preparations for Carnrike's departure continue over the next few months, they will optimize Spanitz's role to enhance her experience while maintaining efficiency and sustainability within one of the nation's largest business advocacy organizations.
The chamber reports having doubled its revenue over the last ten years and ranks among the top three business chambers in the United States. Baruah added, “I look forward to the leadership Megan will provide in the years to come.”
