The Michigan House of Representatives has passed several pieces of legislation aimed at reforming budget allocations and enhancing state operational transparency. House Bill 4161 "proposes budget cuts" and includes measures to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent effectively. The bill prohibits government funding for services for illegal immigrants, mandates the use of E-Verify for state contractors, and enforces public transparency in spending. It also includes measures such as limiting severance pay for high-ranking officials and prioritizing Michigan-based businesses in state contracts. House Bill 4161 passed with a vote of 59-49.

House Bill 4162 seeks to sustain funding for police, fire, and emergency responses, crucial for public safety and the operation of essential services across Michigan. The bill intends to keep prisons staffed and courts operational. It also supports veterans' homes and maintains Michigan State Police presence. This bill also passed with a vote of 59-49.

House Bill 4032 aims to streamline the licensing process under the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, simplifying medical professional practices in Michigan and reducing bureaucratic barriers. By doing so, it is believed to save taxpayer money while maintaining licensing standards. This measure easily passed with a significant majority of 106-1.

In committee work, the Homeland Security Oversight Committee announced plans for 25-30 public hearings to address national security threats like fentanyl and border security. Representative Josh Schriver's office has provided the committee with a list of national security concerns, seeking to hold state departments accountable and develop solutions.

Legislation co-sponsored by Representative Schriver, House Bills 4163 and 4164, aims to restrict the deployment of Michigan’s National Guard to foreign conflicts without specific Congressional authorization, underlining Congress's role in military authorization.

There has also been a call for action against the Michigan High School Athletic Association's (MHSAA) policy on biological males competing in women's sports. Concerns have been raised over fairness and the integrity of female athletics.

In conclusion, these legislative actions reflect ongoing efforts to reform governmental processes, enhance public safety, and address social and security issues in Michigan.
