On June 10, 2024, the Detroit Regional CEO Group sent a letter to Michigan House and Senate leaders expressing strong support for passing HB 5768-5770, SB 559, and SB 562. These bills aim to overhaul the state’s current Strategic Outreach and Attraction Reserve (SOAR) Fund by investing in business attraction, affordable housing, community revitalization, and transit projects.
The Detroit Regional CEO Group stated that while they do not view this legislative package as a complete solution to all state challenges, it represents "a serious and important step toward a long-term, cohesive economic development strategy that will span administrations and make the state more attractive and competitive."
