Riverview Highlands Golf Course Poised For A Great Round This Spring
Riverview Highlands Golf Course is poised to welcome golfers back this spring.
The golf course has been experiencing unprecedented growth over the past two years, and the momentum is expected to continue in 2022. Memberships are up 30 percent, and Leagues and Outings are up 10 percent. “We’re so proud of our award-winning golf course here in Riverview – it is truly the recreation jewel of our city. It’s no surprise to us that rounds have increased 35 percent, totaling 50,000+ rounds over the past two seasons,” said Mayor of Riverview Andrew Swift. “My fellow elected officials – and the entire administration – are committed to making sure Riverview Highlands is the best Municipal Golf Course in Downriver.”
The City of Riverview has invested in important renovations over the past few years, which may be part of the reason for its heightened popularity. Renovations include:
• New Fleet of Golf Carts
• Landscaping on Course & Club Grounds
• Irrigation Updates
• Extensive Cart Path Improvements (all three courses)
• Equipment Upgrades (e.g., two Toro Greens Mowers, a Slide Green Roller, a Toro Spray Machine, and pump station in 2021, and 2022 will bring a new Toro Sand Pro and Toro Pro Core Aerator)
• ProShop Building Enhancements (e.g., new year-round indoor practice facility, siding, trim, paint)
In 2019, Riverview Highlands created a year-round indoor practice facility in the ProShop Buildings second floor loft area, aptly named “The Loft.” This private area sports the most cutting-edge technology, brand name gear, nets, putting green, club fittings, and lessons from well-known and respected golf pro Ken Moore. Hundreds of lessons take place each year as part of Moore’s “Grow Your Game Golf Center,” which is contracted with Riverview Highlands to lend his expertise and provide year-round instruction for golfers from the Downriver community.
Michael Kettler, PGA, General Manager and Director of Golf at Riverview Highlands said, “I think we’ve made high-impact and smart choices regarding capital improvements that really matter to our members and guests. The City has supported making property and equipment investments of more than $1,200,000 over the past three years, and we have more plans to improve in 2022. This course has infinite potential!”
This year, Riverview Highlands boasted more than $2,200,000 in revenue, and approximately $1,600,000 in expenses. 2021 marked the first year of profit in about two decades. With much positive momentum at the golf course, it seems like blue skies for the 2022 season.
