Detroit City FC II is set to host open tryouts for the upcoming UPSL Spring season, as announced by the club. The tryouts are scheduled for February 27 at High Velocity Sports in Canton, Michigan. Detroit City FC II serves as the reserve team for the professional squad competing in the USL Championship and will also participate in the USL Academy League during summer.

Brad Dunwell, head coach of Detroit City FC II, expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to discover local talent through this event. “Our upcoming tryout is important because it proves an opportunity for local players to be seen and considered for DCFC II,” said Dunwell. He emphasized the club's commitment to community engagement by stating, “As such a supporter-driven, community-centered club, it feels like a no-brainer to bring in as many local players as possible to DCFC II.”

The team will conduct another tryout in April aimed at identifying young players eligible for participation in the USL U20 Academy League. Tyler McManus, Director of Youth Development at Detroit City FC, commented on this initiative: “We are also looking forward to the USL Academy open tryout in April to continue building our reserve team player pool.” McManus highlighted efforts with their youth club network to find promising players locally.

“With the men’s team participating in both UPSL and USL Academy, we can open new doors into the future of player development at our club,” added McManus.

The UPSL Spring season kicks off in early April, while the USL Academy League will run from June through July.
