Detroit City FC lost 1-0 to Loudoun United FC in their final home match of the season. Head coach Danny Dichio made several changes to the starting lineup compared to last week’s win over North Carolina FC. Carlos Herrera started as goalkeeper, with Alex Villanueva, Devon Amoo-Mensah, Stephen Carroll, and Michael Bryant forming the defense. The midfield consisted of Jeciel Cedeño, Kobe Hernandez-Foster, Ryan Williams, and Haruki Yamazaki. Darren Smith and Ates Diouf led the attack.

Both teams had chances in a fast-paced first half but were unable to capitalize due to mistakes in the attacking third. Detroit City earned two early corners; Kobe Hernandez-Foster’s first shot required a save from Loudoun’s keeper while his second attempt went out of play.

Ryan Williams received the first yellow card of the match in the 33rd minute for a late tackle.

After halftime, Dichio substituted Jay Chapman for Kobe Hernandez-Foster to boost Detroit’s offense. As play continued, fouls increased on both sides. Haruki Yamazaki was shown a yellow card in the 55th minute for a tactical foul. Two minutes later, Devon Amoo-Mensah received a yellow card for dissent. Loudoun’s Garrison Tubbs picked up their first yellow card in the 63rd minute after a foul in midfield.

Isaiah LeFlore replaced Alex Villanueva for Detroit City in the 67th minute as part of further tactical adjustments.

Loudoun gained control during the second half while Detroit struggled offensively. In an effort to strengthen their attack, Jordan Adebayo-Smith came on for Ates Diouf in the 74th minute.

Detroit made two final substitutions in the 88th minute: Sebastian Guenzatti entered for Jeciel Cedeño and Matt Sheldon replaced Haruki Yamazaki.

In stoppage time at the start of the second half, Omari Glasgow capitalized on a turnover and crossed to Riley Bidois who scored what proved to be Loudoun's winning goal.

Loudoun secured three points with this victory and clinched their first-ever playoff spot. Detroit City remains seventh in the Eastern Conference standings.

Detroit City will finish its regular season with two away games beginning against Charleston Battery on October 18 at Patriots Point Soccer Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
