Carhartt and the Detroit Lions have entered a multi-year partnership to celebrate Detroit’s hardworking spirit. The collaboration brings together two Michigan-based brands with strong local ties, aiming to honor determination both on the football field and in everyday work.
The partnership will include fan engagement activities at Ford Field, exclusive experiences for fans, and promotions across digital and social media platforms. Carhartt will also act as presenting sponsor for several community-focused events during the Lions season.
"Our partnership deepens our connection to the Lions' passionate and hardworking fanbase and our hometown community of Detroit," said Susan Hennike, Chief Brand Officer at Carhartt. "By combining Carhartt's heritage with one of the most storied franchises in football, we're proud to create meaningful activations that celebrate our shared values of grit, determination and hard work – whether on the field or the jobsite."
Mike Disner, Chief Operating Officer of the Detroit Lions, added: "We are thrilled to partner with Carhartt, an iconic, home-grown brand that shares our values. The Detroit Lions and Carhartt both believe that the path to success is rooted in hard work and celebrate those who go to work every day to push the city of Detroit forward. We are excited to collaborate with Carhartt and continue to shed light on the grit and determination that both brands embody."
As part of their collaboration, Carhartt will present several initiatives:
- Skilled Trades Day will allow skilled trades workers access to discounted tickets for a select home game. These workers will be recognized during a pregame reception and honored on Ford Field’s videoboard.
- During each home game, a high school football coach will be named "Coach of the Week," receiving a $1,000 grant from Carhartt for their program as well as eligibility for "Coach of the Year."
- Annual recognition will also be given by Carhartt on-field for outstanding employees at Ford Field.
This new agreement builds upon Carhartt’s ongoing involvement in sports within Detroit; it already serves as Official Apparel Provider for both the Detroit Tigers’ Grounds Crew and Red Wings’ Ice Crew.
Amidst concerns about worker shortages in skilled trades across Michigan and nationwide, Carhartt is working to support workforce development through training programs. According to state data from Michigan’s Department of Labor and Employment, about 47,000 trade jobs are projected annually through 2026.
