U.S. Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district, has used her social media platform to criticize the Trump Administration’s immigration and foreign policy actions in a series of posts made on September 18 and 19, 2025.

On September 18, Tlaib alleged that "The Trump Administration’s illegal abduction and threatened deportation of Mahmoud Khalil has always been in retaliation for speaking out against U.S. complicity in the genocide in Palestine. They're continuing to weaponize immigration courts and will stop at nothing to try and". Later that day, she posted another message regarding due process: "Due process isn’t optional. This administration is fast-tracking deportations so quickly that lawyers can’t even reach their clients before they’re disappeared. It’s cruelty."

On September 19, Tlaib continued her criticism of U.S. policy towards Gaza: "Communities throughout our country want the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza to stop. I'm demanding that our government stops funding this genocide. I submitted all the names of the Palestinians killed in Gaza into the congressional record. We must end this genocide."

Tlaib has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after replacing Brenda Jones, following an earlier tenure in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. She was born in Detroit in 1976 and continues to reside there. Tlaib holds a BA from Wayne State University (1998) and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2004).
