Detroit City FC secured a 4-1 win over Orange County SC at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, earning three points in the league. The match saw early action with Darren Smith scoring for Detroit in the 13th minute after a turnover by Orange County. Two minutes later, Ethan Zubak equalized for Orange County with a penalty.
Detroit regained the lead in the 31st minute when Ates Diouf scored following an assist from Smith. Just before halftime, Jeciel Cedeño added another goal after Haruki Yamazaki kept the play alive in the box, putting Detroit ahead 3-1 at the break.
The second half featured several substitutions for Detroit City. Isaiah LeFlore replaced Yamazaki at halftime. In the 63rd minute, Abdoulaye Diop and Jordan Adebayo-Smith came on for Cedeño and Diouf. Jay Chapman entered for Kobe Hernandez-Foster in the 76th minute.
In the closing minutes, Jordan Adebayo-Smith assisted Alex Villanueva's goal in the 88th minute to make it 4-1. After that goal, academy player Bilal Obeid made his appearance as a substitute for Darren Smith.
Darren Smith was named man of the match with one goal and one assist. Detroit City will play its next game away against New Mexico United on Wednesday, September 10th.
