The Detroit Red Wings have announced their roster for the 2025 NHL Prospect Games, which will take place on September 13 and 14 at Comerica Center in Frisco, Texas. The event will feature 24 players, including recent draft picks, free agent signees, and tryouts who will compete against prospects from the Dallas Stars.
The roster includes first-round selections from the last three NHL Entry Drafts: center Nate Danielson (9th overall, 2023), defenseman Axel Sandin-Pellikka (17th overall, 2023), right wing Michael Brandsegg-Nygård (15th overall, 2024), and left wing Carter Bear (13th overall, 2025). Danielson played the entire 2024-25 season with the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League. He recorded 39 points in 71 regular-season games during his rookie year and scored one goal in three Calder Cup Playoff games.
Sandin-Pellikka started his season with Skellefteå AIK in Sweden’s top league before making his North American professional debut with the Griffins. He led all under-20 skaters in Sweden’s league with both goals and points. Brandsegg-Nygård also began his season with Skellefteå AIK before joining the Griffins for two regular-season games and contributing three points during playoff appearances. Bear played for the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League where he led his team in goals and total points.
Other notable players include Kevin Bicker (147th overall, 2023), who was named Rookie of the Year in Germany’s top league; goaltender Rudy Guimond (169th overall, 2023), who helped lead Moncton Wildcats to their first Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League title since 2010; Emmitt Finnie (201st overall, 2023), who topped Kamloops Blazers’ scoring chart; and Ondřej Becher (80th overall, 2024), who had a productive rookie season with Grand Rapids.
Thirteen of those selected are former Red Wings draft picks ranging from four recent draftees aged eighteen to Shai Buium—a second-round pick from 2021—who finished last season as one of Grand Rapids’ leading defensemen.
According to organizers: "Roster is subject to change."
The two-game series between Detroit and Dallas is scheduled for Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. ET and Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. ET.
