Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently voiced concerns on social media regarding public health, gun safety, and labor rights within federal agencies.

On August 11, 2025, Tlaib addressed environmental safety and regulatory rollbacks in a post stating, "These forever chemicals are dangerous to our public health, but the Trump Administration is rolling back protections that will increase PFAS exposure in our communities. Clean water is a human right, and our government has a responsibility to protect people from contamination."

Later the same day, she advocated for gun safety legislation with another post: "Too many of our babies are being shot in their own homes. That’s why we need to pass the Safe Storage Save Lives Act now. I introduced this bill because tragedies like these are preventable. Our children deserve to be safe." The Safe Storage Save Lives Act aims to address firearm storage practices to prevent accidental shootings among children.

On August 12, 2025, Tlaib commented on labor issues at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), writing: "The Trump Administration's union-busting at the EPA is an attack on the very people working to protect our air and water. When Zeldin tries to bust unions, it’s not just an attack on the workers, it’s an attack on our health and our environment. I stand with @AFGENational."

Tlaib has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after succeeding Brenda Jones and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. She was born in Detroit in 1976 and continues to reside there. Her educational background includes a BA from Wayne State University (1998) and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2004).
