Detroit City Football Club secured a 1-0 win over Indy Eleven at Keyworth Stadium on Saturday, marking the team’s second consecutive home victory. The match was decided by an own goal in the 57th minute, following a play initiated by Ates Diouf.

Head coach Danny Dichio made slight changes to his lineup from Wednesday’s game against Rhode Island. Carlos Saldaña started as goalkeeper, with Devon Amoo-Mensah, Shane Wiedt, Michael Bryant, and Matt Sheldon forming the defense. Kobe Hernandez-Foster and Abdoulaye Diop played in defensive midfield roles while Alex Villanueva and Connor Rutz occupied attacking midfield positions. Sebastián Guenzatti and Ates Diouf led the attack.

Kobe Hernandez-Foster had Detroit’s first notable chance in the 14th minute with a free kick that forced a save from Indy Eleven’s goalkeeper.

The match shifted in the 30th minute when Bruno Rendon of Indy Eleven received a straight red card for an elbow on Devon Amoo-Mensah. Despite having a numerical advantage for the remainder of the first half, Detroit City struggled to create scoring opportunities.

Michael Bryant was cautioned with a yellow card in the 37th minute for a late tackle.

After halftime, Darren Smith replaced Shane Wiedt to add more attacking options for Detroit City. The breakthrough came in the 56th minute when Ates Diouf dribbled into the box and sent a ball across goal that was deflected into Indy Eleven’s net by one of their own players.

Detroit made further substitutions in the 67th minute, bringing on Haruki Yamazaki and Jay Chapman for Connor Rutz and Abdoulaye Diop. In response to pressure from Indy Eleven despite being down to ten men, Carlos Saldaña made several important saves during the second half.

Le Rouge completed their substitutions in the 74th minute with Rhys Williams and Ryan Williams coming on for Sebastián Guenzatti and Alex Villanueva.

Detroit City maintained its lead through defensive play during the final stages of the match. The result gives them additional separation from seventh place in league standings. For goalkeeper Carlos Saldaña, this marks his third clean sheet out of four recent matches across all competitions.

The team will travel next week for an away game against North Carolina FC before returning home on August 23rd to face Tampa Bay Rowdies. Tickets are available at www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
