Detroit City Football Club has acquired midfielder Kobe Hernandez-Foster from Las Vegas Lights FC. The 23-year-old joins Detroit City FC for the remainder of the 2025 USL Championship season, with an option to extend into 2026. The transfer fee was not disclosed and is subject to league and federation approval. As part of the agreement, Las Vegas Lights FC will retain a percentage of any future sale.

Hernandez-Foster, originally from Los Angeles, recently signed with Las Vegas Lights FC but spent most of his recent career at Birmingham Legion in the USL Championship. Over the last season and a half, he played 49 matches, logged 3,975 minutes, scored two goals, and recorded five assists.

Detroit City FC supporters may recall Hernandez-Foster from previous encounters when he played every minute against Detroit while at Birmingham Legion FC. He assisted on Birmingham’s equalizing goal and was named Man of the Match by FotMob during their visit to Keyworth Stadium on March 22, 2025.

Before his time in Birmingham, Hernandez-Foster spent two seasons in Norway's top division with Hamarkameratene between 2022 and 2023. He made 35 appearances for the club, starting in 22 matches.

In 2020, Hernandez-Foster joined German side VfL Wolfsburg where he tallied two assists in five appearances for their U19 team. He debuted for Wolfsburg’s first team on July 6, 2021, during a pre-season friendly win over Erzgebirge Aue.

Hernandez-Foster began attracting national attention as a teenager when he debuted for the USMNT U-17s at age fifteen in April 2018. Serving as vice-captain during the CONCACAF U17 Championship in May 2019, he played six out of seven matches and scored the opening goal against Barbados that contributed to the United States qualifying for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.
