Each year, Deloitte professionals gather for Impact Day, a day dedicated to creating positive change in their communities. This initiative involves nonprofit organizations and local communities across more than 100 U.S. cities, including Detroit.

For the fourth consecutive year, Deloitte's Detroit office participated in this event by organizing a career readiness workshop for college students in the Detroit region. The workshop focused on providing skill-building opportunities such as resume feedback, interview practice, and learning about Business Chemistry—a science-based approach developed by Deloitte to enhance teamwork and business relationships. Students also heard from Deloitte professionals about their educational and career experiences.

David Parent, Managing Partner at Deloitte LLP of the Detroit Office, stated: “Our Deloitte professionals enjoy giving back to the community; particularly in helping to develop Detroit’s future workforce. We were impressed by the energy and engagement demonstrated by this group of students.”

The Detroit Regional Chamber has noted that regional businesses often struggle with finding and retaining talent. To address this challenge, employers are encouraged to engage more actively in talent development by exposing students to various industries and helping them build professional networks. The annual Career Readiness Workshop exemplifies this strategy.

The Chamber’s TalentEd team collaborates with employers to provide these exposure opportunities for students. Businesses interested in participating can contact Christi Taylor, Senior Director of Employer Engagement.
