Detroit City Football Club concluded its three-match road trip with a 3-2 loss against Loudoun United FC on Saturday evening in Leesburg, Virginia. The match began with Ben Morris scoring for Detroit in the 22nd minute, but Loudoun quickly responded and took control of the game.
Loudoun United equalized in the 38th minute through Abdellatif Aboukoura, who later scored again just before halftime, giving Loudoun a 2-1 lead. Detroit's Michael Bryant managed to level the score at 2-2 in the 52nd minute. However, Zach Ryan's goal in the 64th minute secured victory for Loudoun United.
Detroit City's Head Coach Danny Dichio introduced a largely different starting lineup compared to their previous match against Pittsburgh. Carlos Saldaña replaced Carlos Herrara as goalkeeper. Matt Sheldon, Shane Wiedt, Devon Amoo-Mensah, and Michael Bryant formed the defensive line. The midfield included Dominic Gasso, Ryan Williams, Alex Villanueva, Jeciel Cedeño, and Connor Rutz. Ben Morris played as the lone striker.
Despite some opportunities created by substitutions made during the second half—Abdoulaye Diop and Darren Smith came on for Ryan Williams and Connor Rutz—the changes did not yield any goals for Detroit City FC.
The defeat extended Detroit's winless streak to eight games. Their next match is scheduled at Keyworth Stadium against The Miami FC on June 21st at 4 p.m., with tickets available at www.detcityfc.com/tickets.
