The Detroit Red Wings began their five-game road trip with a 5-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center on Tuesday night.

Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin led the team with two goals and an assist, marking his second multi-goal game and fourth multi-point performance of the season. “A really good start to the trip,” Larkin said. “I think a good road game our of our team. That’s something we’ve been looking to do. The third point is a total team win. All the lines were good. All the D pairs played really solid and Gibby was great. We had a great third period as well. A lot of positives and a really good way to start the trip.”

Alex DeBrincat contributed one goal and two assists, while Lucas Raymond added two assists for Detroit, which improved its record to 7-3-0 for 14 points in the standings after previously defeating St. Louis at home.

“We draw up a pretty good gameplan before the games,” said goaltender John Gibson, who made 20 saves for his fourth win in five starts. “I think we’re just going out, executing it well, sticking to what works and playing connected.”

St. Louis took an early lead when Brayden Schenn scored less than a minute into the game, but Detroit responded with two goals later in the first period—one from Ben Chiarot, assisted by Mason Appleton and DeBrincat, followed by DeBrincat’s own power-play goal with help from Moritz Seider and Larkin.

“They came out with some intensity,” said head coach Todd McLellan about St. Louis’ start. “I’m not sure if the first three or four minutes of either the first or second period we were ready to match them, but I thought after that we played a pretty solid game.”

Larkin extended Detroit’s lead in the second period after deflecting Simon Edvinsson’s pass; Raymond recorded another assist on this play.

With his seventh goal of the season, Larkin became only the eighth Michigan-born player in NHL history to reach at least 250 career NHL goals—a group that includes Mike Modano, Brian Rolston, Kyle Connor, Doug Weight, Jimmy Carson, Ryan Kesler, and Alex DeBrincat.

Elmer Soderblom soon added another goal for Detroit following an assist from Michael Rasmussen and James van Riemsdyk.

“There’s two of them there who hadn’t played in the last couple games,” McLellan said about players on Detroit’s fourth line. “Very hungry and very detailed in the game. Used their size, checked well. JVR seems to settle things down for them. That’s a pretty big strong, heavy line. They used it tonight.”

Jordan Kyrou scored for St. Louis late in the second period to narrow Detroit's lead to 4-2 before Larkin secured victory with an empty-net goal assisted by Raymond.

“That’s the standard for the trip,” Larkin said after completing Detroit's sweep of St. Louis in their home-and-home series. “We showed we can play like that against a desperate team that played really hard, so we got to be ready to go in L.A., which is a tough building to play in.”

Detroit continues its road trip Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings at Crypto.com Arena.

Additional comments from players highlighted teamwork and resilience:

“It’s just so important to win as a team," Larkin said about spreading out offensive contributions across lines.

DeBrincat commented on overcoming an early deficit: "It’s good to get the two points there... I thought we battled back well."

He also addressed conceding an early goal: "That’s more of a bad bounce than anything... But sometimes it’s going to happen."

Gibson praised defensive efforts: "I think we’ve been playing well... I felt like a really good effort from the group."
