Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, representing Michigan’s 12th district since 2019, shared a series of tweets on June 11, 2025, addressing various pressing issues. The congresswoman, who has been an active voice in U.S. politics and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014, expressed her concerns over immigration policies and environmental regulations.

On June 11, 2025, Tlaib reported that "We were just notified by his attorneys that Maykol Bogoya Duarte, a high school student in Detroit who was about to graduate, was denied a stay of deportation. ICE cruelly sent him to Louisiana and separated him from his family. He should be released and allowed to graduate." This statement highlights the ongoing debate over immigration enforcement practices and their impact on families.

Later that day at 20:37 UTC, Tlaib criticized environmental policy changes under the Trump administration by stating "The Trump Admin's EPA rollbacks could cost 30,000 lives every year. They only care about making corporate polluter CEOs richer while dangerous pollution makes people in our communities sick. The EPA needs to put people over polluters." Her comments reflect concerns about public health implications related to regulatory changes.

In another tweet posted at 21:43 UTC on the same day, Tlaib simply urged for action with "Free Mahmoud Khalil." Although brief, this call for liberation underscores her advocacy for human rights.

Tlaib's educational background includes a BA from Wayne State University and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. She continues to reside in Detroit where she remains actively engaged with her constituents.
