She urged for the immediate release of these activists and called for an end to what she described as a "starvation blockade."

Later that day, Tlaib attended Cody High School's graduation ceremony in Detroit. She praised the students for overcoming challenges and highlighted their accomplishments by mentioning Dominique, who was also the winner of the 2023 Congressional Art Competition.

On June 10, 2025, Tlaib celebrated a milestone with the American Cancer Society during their Relay for Life event. Tlaib has served in Congress since succeeding Brenda Jones in 2019. Her political career began in Michigan's House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976, Tlaib graduated from Wayne State University before earning a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
