Detroit City FC faced a challenging match, succumbing to a 2-0 defeat against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC. This result extended Detroit's winless streak to seven games across all competitions.

The game saw Detroit struggle with possession in the initial stages, allowing Pittsburgh to capitalize on turnovers and test goalkeeper Carlos Herrera early on. Pittsburgh took the lead in the 37th minute when Robbie Mertz's cross found Perrin Barnes, who headed it past Herrera.

At halftime, Detroit made a substitution with Jeciel Cedeño replacing Ben Morris. However, their difficulties persisted as midfield turnovers hampered any progress.

In the 65th minute, Jordan Adebayo-Smith and Connor Rutz were brought on for Sebastián Guenzatti and Darren Smith. Shortly after, another cross from Pittsburgh was finished by Robbie Mertz at the back post, doubling their lead.

Further changes for Detroit came in the 76th minute with Haruki Yamazaki and Dominic Gasso entering for Alex Villanueva and Marcello Polisi.

This loss places Detroit fifth in the Eastern Conference standings, three points behind North Carolina FC and ahead of Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC by three points. Their next match is away against Loudoun United FC before returning home to face The Miami FC at Keyworth Stadium on June 21st.
