Detroit City FC is set to face Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC this Saturday in a USL Championship match at Highmark Stadium. After trailing 2-0 in the first half, Sebastián Guenzatti narrowed the gap early in the second half. However, Portland extended their lead before Darren Smith scored again for Detroit, making it 3-2. A turnover late in the game allowed Portland to secure a 4-2 victory.

This defeat places Detroit fourth in their group standings behind Rhode Island FC, Hartford Athletic, and Portland Hearts of Pine. Currently struggling with form, Detroit has not won any of their last six matches across all competitions, earning only three points from three draws and three losses. Their most recent victory was against Pittsburgh Riverhounds on April 26th.

Pittsburgh comes into this match following a narrow 1-0 home loss to Rhode Island FC in the Jägermeister Cup last weekend. Despite dominating possession and taking 15 shots during the match, they failed to score.

Like Detroit City, Pittsburgh has been facing challenges recently with just one win out of their last five matches across all competitions. This victory came two weeks ago with a 1-0 away win over Rhode Island FC where Daniel Griffin scored the decisive goal late in the first half.
