Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, representing Michigan's 12th district, recently shared her views on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Tlaib has been an active member of the U.S. Congress since 2019 and is known for her advocacy on behalf of her constituents in Detroit.

On June 2, 2025, Tlaib criticized the Trump Administration's decision to close Job Corps centers. She stated that this move would "leave many young people without housing and trapped in the cycle of poverty." Tlaib emphasized that the program serves as a crucial support system for job placement and future opportunities, adding that "Detroiters deserve better" (source).

Later that day, Tlaib celebrated the 60th anniversary of Head Start, highlighting its importance to nearly 750,000 children annually. She mentioned leading efforts to restore funding after what she described as "the Trump Admin’s reckless cuts," underscoring the ongoing need to ensure Head Start's continuation in aiding children's development (source).

In another tweet from June 2, Tlaib expressed her condolences following a violent attack in Boulder. She described the incident as "horrific" and extended her sympathies to victims and their families while affirming that "violence has no place in our communities" (source).

Tlaib has served in Congress since replacing Brenda Jones in 2019. Born in Detroit in 1976, she holds degrees from Wayne State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
