The Detroit Lions have announced the signing of defensive lineman Roy Lopez as an unrestricted free agent. The terms of the contract were not made public.

Lopez joins the Lions after spending two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, where he played in 2023 and 2024. During the 2024 season, Lopez started all 16 games he played, recording 28 tackles, including 10 solo tackles. He also achieved four tackles for loss, three pass defenses, three quarterback hits, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery.

Lopez began his NFL career with the Houston Texans as a sixth-round draft pick in 2021. Over his career spanning 63 games with 50 starts, he has accumulated a total of 137 tackles (72 solo), along with other notable statistics such as 17 tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits.
