Detroit City FC signs Jordan Adebayo-Smith on loan from Minnesota United

Detroit City Football Club has confirmed the loan acquisition of forward Jordan Adebayo-Smith from Minnesota United FC, a Major League Soccer team. The player is already in Detroit and will don the number 99 jersey for Le Rouge this season.

In his inaugural year with Minnesota United in 2024, Adebayo-Smith participated in 11 matches for the senior MLS team, contributing one assist over 247 minutes of play. He also played 17 games for Minnesota United II in MLS Next Pro, scoring five goals and providing an assist.

Adebayo-Smith joined Minnesota United FC following a trade involving General Allocation Money (GAM) with New England Revolution. During his time with New England Revolution II in 2023, he was a key player, featuring in 30 matches and starting 28 of them. That year marked his most productive season stateside as he scored twelve goals and assisted six others.

Prior to joining New England Revolution, Adebayo-Smith spent two seasons playing in the USL Championship—first with Tampa Bay Rowdies in 2021 and then with New York Red Bulls II in 2022. Across these seasons, he accumulated over 3,000 minutes on the field, scoring eleven goals and securing three assists. Notably, ten out of his fourteen goal contributions came during his tenure with New York Red Bulls II.

Adebayo-Smith began his career in England where he joined Lincoln City on a two-year scholarship in August 2018. He was subsequently loaned to Grantham Town, Boston United, and Gainsborough Trinity before moving to Sutton United in November 2020. He left Sutton United by March 2021 to continue his soccer career in the U.S.
