The Detroit Red Wings have announced the recall of forward Dominik Shine from the Grand Rapids Griffins, their affiliate in the American Hockey League. This move comes as the team places forward Carter Mazur on injured reserve.

Shine, 31, has participated in four games with the Red Wings during this season, contributing one assist and maintaining an average ice time of 8:44. He marked his first NHL point with an assist against the Calgary Flames on February 1. In addition to his time with the Red Wings, Shine has been active with the Griffins, appearing in 53 games where he ranks among team leaders in several categories including goals and assists.

Originally joining Grand Rapids as an undrafted free agent in March 2017, Shine has accumulated significant experience in the AHL. Over his career with the Griffins since 2016-17, he has amassed a total of 175 points and logged substantial penalty minutes across numerous games.

Before embarking on his professional career, Shine played collegiate hockey at Northern Michigan University from 2013 to 2017. There he served as an alternate captain and earned accolades for his performance. Prior to college, he was active in junior hockey with the Lincoln Stars in the USHL.

A native of Pinckney, Michigan, Shine developed his skills playing youth hockey in Metro Detroit.
