Detroit Red Wings forward Andrew Copp underwent surgery today to repair his left pectoral tendon. The procedure was successful, but he will miss the rest of the 2024-25 season. His recovery is expected to take four to six months.
Copp, 30, joined Detroit as a free agent on July 13, 2022. Over three seasons with the team, he has played in 217 games, scoring 32 goals and providing 66 assists for a total of 98 points. This season alone, he has contributed 23 points in 56 games.
The injury occurred during Saturday's game against Minnesota in the second period. Before getting injured, Copp achieved his 300th career NHL point with an assist on Alex DeBrincat’s goal. That game also marked his 700th career NHL appearance. In addition to his time with Detroit, Copp has played in 467 games with the Winnipeg Jets and 16 games with the New York Rangers.
