Detroit City Football Club has announced the appointment of Brad Dunwell as the head coach of Detroit City FC II. Dunwell, a former midfielder for the club's first team, becomes the first full-time head coach for Detroit City FC II.

Dunwell joined Detroit City FC in 2022 during its inaugural season in the USL Championship. That year, he played in 20 league matches, starting 13 and accumulating nearly 1,300 minutes on the field. In 2023, Dunwell played for Charlotte Independence in USL League One before retiring from professional soccer.

After his playing career, Dunwell returned to Grand Rapids, Michigan, where he coached at Midwest United FC. There he worked with the 2008 and 2009 ENCL squads and served as a player-coach for Midwest United’s USL League Two team. He holds a B License from US Soccer.
