Detroit City FC signs Marcello Polisi to a two-year contract

Today, Detroit City Football Club announced the acquisition of midfielder Marcello Polisi on a two-year contract. The Canadian athlete will don the number 45 jersey for Le Rouge this season.

Polisi hails from Burnaby, British Columbia, and has spent his entire professional career in Canada. Most recently, he played for Valour FC in the Canadian Premier League. During the 2023 season, he logged 1,912 minutes over 22 appearances with the Winnipeg-based club. His sole goal of the season occurred in a match that ended in a 3-1 loss to Atlético Ottawa.

In 2023, Polisi joined Valour FC from HFX Wanderers FC, another team in the Canadian Premier League. He played with HFX Wanderers during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, accumulating 2,057 minutes across 32 matches and starting in 22 of them.

Before his professional career, Polisi played four college seasons at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. Simon Fraser is notable as the only Canadian university affiliated with the NCAA. In 2017, Polisi was recognized as an NCAA Division II All-American. Over his college career, he scored six goals and provided seven assists across 51 appearances totaling 4,329 minutes for the Red Leafs.

During summers from 2017 to 2019, Polisi also played for TSS FC Rovers in what was then known as USL PDL (now USL League Two). He made a total of 22 appearances over three seasons with Rovers.

Polisi began his youth soccer journey with Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC before joining Vancouver Whitecaps Academy in 2011. At Vancouver Whitecaps Academy, he captained teams at various age levels over five seasons.
