The Detroit Red Wings have secured forward Ondřej Becher with a three-year, entry-level contract. The 20-year-old has been playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins in the American Hockey League (AHL) this season, where he has accumulated three points and six penalty minutes over 19 games.
Becher, who stands at 6-foot-1 and weighs 190 pounds, had an impressive previous season with the Prince George Cougars in the Western Hockey League (WHL). During that time, he was among the top performers on his team, achieving notable statistics such as 32 goals and 64 assists over 58 regular-season games. His efforts also helped the Cougars reach the Western Conference Final.
Selected by the Red Wings in the third round of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, Becher's record includes a total of 134 points across two seasons with Prince George. Prior to his North American career, Becher played in Czechia’s top junior league for AZ Havířov's under-20 team and made his professional debut during the 2020-21 season.
On an international level, Becher contributed to Czechia's bronze medal win at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship by scoring ten points in seven games. He also represented Czechia at the 2022 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
