The Detroit Red Wings have reassigned defensemen William Lagesson and William Wallinder to the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Lagesson, aged 28, has participated in two games with the Red Wings during the current season, accumulating two penalty minutes and taking two shots over an average ice time of 15:57. With the Griffins this season, he has scored eight points (two goals and six assists), achieved a plus-10 rating, and recorded 18 penalty minutes in 20 games. Last season, Lagesson split his time between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Anaheim Ducks, where he managed four assists and logged a total of 32 penalty minutes across both teams. His career includes stints with several NHL teams since being drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in 2014.

William Wallinder, who is 22 years old, began this season with eight points (one goal and seven assists) in 19 games for the Griffins. Last year, he played exclusively for Grand Rapids, scoring 15 points over 65 regular-season games and contributing to their playoff run. Wallinder was drafted by Detroit in the second round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft.

Before joining North American hockey leagues, both players had careers in Sweden's professional leagues. Lagesson played for Djurgårdens IF in the Swedish Hockey League while Wallinder spent time with Rögle BK before transitioning to North America.

Both players have represented Sweden on international stages as well; Lagesson competed at various World Junior Championships while Wallinder earned medals at tournaments like the IIHF World Junior Championship.
