Detroit City FC concluded their 2024 regular season with a decisive 4-1 victory over San Antonio FC at Toyota Field. The win secured Detroit the third seed in the Eastern Conference of the USL Championship.

Maxi Rodriguez initiated the scoring for Detroit in the 28th minute with a shot from the top corner. San Antonio was reduced to ten men after Carter Manley received a red card for a foul on Ben Morris just before halftime. Ryan Williams capitalized on this advantage by doubling Detroit's lead with a free kick.

In the second half, Ben Morris scored twice, securing his brace and extending Detroit's lead to 4-1. Hugo Mbongue managed to score for San Antonio, but it was not enough to change the outcome.

Head Coach Danny Dichio made minimal changes to his lineup following their previous win against The Miami FC. Carlos Saldaña returned as goalkeeper, replacing Nate Steinwascher.

Detroit City's starting lineup included Carlos Saldaña, Alex Villanueva, Devon Amoo-Mensah, Stephen Carroll, Michael Bryant, Ryan Williams, Abdoulaye Diop, Rhys Williams, Maxi Rodriguez, Connor Rutz, and Ben Morris. Substitutes used during the match were James Murphy, Matt Sheldon, Laurent Kissiedou, Jeciel Cedeño, and Elvis Amoh.

Detroit City will host Tampa Bay Rowdies at Keyworth Stadium next weekend for their playoff match. Tickets are available on their official website.
