FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024.
As part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140. The request was sent to Dekalb County on September 26, 2024.
The information requested includes a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024 till September 26, 2024. The specific fields we are interested in are the vendor name, transaction date, transaction description, and the amount paid.
As media professionals engaged in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. We believe that given our role in disseminating information, we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
