The Detroit Tigers will commemorate the 40th anniversary of their 1984 World Series Championship team on Saturday, August 31, at Comerica Park. The event is presented by Bally Sports Detroit and Miller Lite, with the first pitch against the Boston Red Sox scheduled for 6:10 p.m.

The 1984 Tigers achieved a franchise-record 104 wins and defeated the San Diego Padres in the World Series. Over 20 players from that championship team are expected to return, including World Series MVP Alan Trammell, Lou Whitaker, Kirk Gibson, Lance Parrish, Chet Lemon, Jack Morris, Dan Petry, Tom Brookens, Barbaro Garbey, Dave Rozema, Darrell Evans, Larry Herndon, Milt Wilcox, Howard Johnson, Juan Berenguer, John Grubb, Rusty Kuntz, Sid Monge, Doug Bair, Doug Baker, Randy O’Neal and Bill Scherrer.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming back and celebrating nearly the entire roster of players from the legendary 1984 World Series winning team this Saturday at Comerica Park,” said Ryan Gustafson, President and CEO of Ilitch Sports + Entertainment. “The incredible impact this team made representing the city of Detroit and Tigers fans everywhere continues to resonate some 40 years later and we’re thrilled to honor them.”

A special ticket package includes a T-shirt featuring the “BLESS YOU BOYS” rally cry moniker from the 1984 season. The Detroit Vs Everybody logo will be displayed on the right sleeve while the iconic Olde English ‘D’ will be featured on the left sleeve. Fans can visit Tigers.com/1984 to purchase this ticket package.

Select members of the championship team will sign autographs on August 31 for fans who purchase advanced tickets or on-site at The D Shop presented by Meijer at Comerica Park. Two sessions will be held: from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m., and from 1:00-2:30 p.m. Tickets for these sessions are available at Tigers.com/Authentics.

Autograph schedule:

11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Juan Berenger; Tom Brookens; John Grubb; Rusty Kuntz; Sid Monge; Randy O’Neal

1:00 - 2:30 p.m.: Doug Bair; Doug Baker; Larry Herndon; Howard Johnson; Bill Scherrer; Milt Wilcox

Ticketed fans are invited to a Q&A session with several former players from the 1984 team on the Comerica Park concourse near Big Cat Court from 4:30-5:00 p.m., where they can ask questions of these Tigers legends.

A pregame ceremony celebrating the anniversary will begin around 5:40 p.m., with fans encouraged to be seated by 5:30 p.m.

Additionally, ticketed fans attending Friday's series opener against Boston (6:40 p.m.) can purchase signed copies of “The Enchanted Season” by co-authors Tom Gage and Lance Parrish. They will be available near Gate A from when gates open until supplies last or through the second inning.
