House Bill 5827, introduced to address changes in unemployment insurance, proposes extending the duration an individual can receive unemployment benefits from 20 weeks to 26 weeks.

The Detroit Regional Chamber, Grand Rapids Chamber, Michigan Chamber, Michigan Manufacturers Association, and Small Business Association of Michigan have collectively expressed opposition to the bill. These organizations sent a letter to members of the House of Representatives detailing their concerns.
