Since 1993, the Volunteers of America Adopt a Family program has helped individuals in need throughout Michigan. It starts each year in early September and lasts through the end of December. Sponsors (individuals, families, teams, organizations, businesses) adopt families for the holidays, providing toys and clothing for each child in the family, as well as a special holiday meal.

"This is our WCPO office-wide charity event, and we look forward to doing more. We raised funds to give to three deserving families this year. These joyful opportunities to give make life meaningful," said Executive Assistant Semiko Beanum.

"My staff never ceases to amaze me. The last few years have been very challenging and after all we have been though these hard-working people still found the time, compassion, energy, and resources to give back," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

"Several thousand dollars have been raised for the Adopt a Family program this year. It is an honor to give back to our community and I could not be prouder of our contribution. Today investigators and members of our staff are delivering the clothes, toys, as well as other gifts. The parents will receive a gift card for food and other household items. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again."
