Wayne County Environmental Services took part in a tour of the Milk River Retention Treatment Basin in Grosse Pointe Woods to learn about the improvements of the Intercounty Drain facilities which covers Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe Woods, and St. Clair Shores.
The tour included an overview of the pumping systems, disinfection, basin cleaning, aeration and recirculation.
In attendance was Elmeka Steele, Deputy Director, Wayne County Environmental Services Division and Drain Commissioner and Derrick Lockridge, Director, External Affairs & Executive Engagement.
Also included was Arthur Bryant, Mayor, City of Grosse Pointe Woods, Thomas Vaughn, City Councilman, City of Grosse Pointe Woods, Candice Miller, Public Works Commissioner, Macomb County, and Kip Walby, Mayor of St. Clair Shores.
In total, this drain service area is responsible for approximately 30,000 people and 6 square miles (4,000 acres).
