Madison Heights Fire Captain, Jeff Brozich died on duty

1

City of Allen Park recently issued the following announcement.

PLEASE READ AND ATTEND IF POSSIBLE....CHIEFS...If your department can spare a piece of apparatus please send one.

On March 1, 2021, Madison Heights Fire Captain, Jeff Brozich died on duty. He had a heart attack.

Sadly, 45 percent of firefighters' on-duty deaths are due to cardiovascular events. It is the leading cause of death for firefighters.

Jeff worked out everyday. He was serious about exercise and diet. It was quit a surprise, when he died from a cardiac event. Something was not right.

His wife Lindsay Brozich wanted to make sure that no other firefighter or police officer would have a cardiac issue and they would not know it. Lindsay and several of her friends and family started a foundation to provide free calcium scoring tests for firefighters and police.

We want to invite firefighters and police departments to support our own and to  kickoff off this new foundation:

Madison Heights Fire Department

Headquarters Fire Station #1

31313 Brush Street

Madison Heights, MI  48071

3/1/22

10:00 - 10:30

Please wear your uniform and department vehicles are welcome.

The kickoff for the new foundation is on the same exact day that Jeff died.

Thank you
