Do

City of Grosse Pointe Farms issued the following announcement on July 16.

President Biden has declared a federal emergency for Wayne County.

The declaration comes in the wake of last month's devastating flooding that damaged more than 19,000 homes in Wayne County.

The declaration clears the way for affected residents to seek federal disaster assistance to recover and rebuild.

FEMA will be detailing the process for residents to follow in applying for relief in the coming days and we will post those details here when they become available.

To begin the application process: 1) visit  www.disasterassistance.gov ; 2) scroll down to the map and select Michigan; 3) Scroll down and select Wayne; and 4) once on the new webpage click the button labeled  "Apply Online". Please read the instructions carefully before applying.

The City will provide more information regarding the FEMA application process as it becomes available. If you need further information or assistance call the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-621-3362.
