Wayne County Board of Canvassers members Monica Palmer and William Hartmann begrudgingly certified the county’s vote noting they expected the election to be audited.

Palmer and Hartmann - both Republicans - said the vote “should not be certified” but voted to certify the election results which includes the City of Detroit.

“There has been a distinct lack of transparency throughout the process,” Palmer and Hartmann said in an affidavit.

The duo reversed their positions from earlier in the week when they refused certification.

Hartmann said in an affidavit he certified the vote after assurances were given that it would be audited.

“Late in the evening, I was enticed to certify based on the promise that a full and independent audit would take place,” Hartmann said in an affidavit notarized at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday. “I would not have agreed to the certification but for the promise of an audit.”

Voting systems across the state have also been called into question.
