Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used her social media platform to comment on national health care policy and announce new legislative efforts regarding veterans’ health care.

On November 10, 2025, Tlaib posted criticism of Republican actions related to Medicaid and health insurance premiums. She wrote, "Republicans already made the largest cut to Medicaid in history and are kicking 17 million Americans off their health care. Now they’re causing premiums to double for more than 20 million Americans. Any 'deal' that fails to protect health care and extend the Affordable Care".

Later the same day, Tlaib addressed issues facing military veterans. In a post dated November 10, 2025, she stated: "We cannot just express our gratitude to our veterans with words, they deserve action. I'm introducing the Expanding Health Care Providers for Veterans Act to address health care worker staffing shortages and welcome qualified health care professionals to fill in that gap." She also provided a link for further information: "Read the full press release here https://t.co/uDZlYZ1aix".

Tlaib has served as the U.S. Representative for Michigan's 12th District since 2019 after replacing Brenda Jones. Before joining Congress, she was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976, Tlaib continues to reside in her hometown. She graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998 and later earned a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2004.
