State Representative Rylee Linting has secured funding for infrastructure improvements in the Downriver community as part of Michigan’s new state budget agreement. The plan includes a $10 million allocation to Wayne County for the construction of a new bridge on West Road in Trenton. The current bridge has deteriorated, resulting in lane closures and causing traffic congestion and safety issues for drivers, rail services, and emergency responders.

“For years, our local infrastructure across the state has been crumbling,” said Linting, who represents Grosse Ile Township. “This budget focuses on providing needed resources for local road agencies to make repairs. When I talk with people throughout our area, their priorities are things like having good roads they can use to take their kids to school or run errands and feeling safe in their communities. I wanted to follow through on those priorities, and I will continue to fight for common-sense investments that give people Downriver the best value on their tax dollars.”

Linting had previously presented testimony regarding the funding request before the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor and Economic Opportunity. Wayne County Deputy Executive Andrew Kandrevas and Wayne County Department of Public Services Director Dayo Akinyemi also spoke about the projects during this session.

The state budget is expected to be voted on soon before being sent to the governor. It features significant investments in local roads, student support, and public safety.
