Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several topics on her official X account on September 30, 2025.
In a post published at 14:37 UTC, Tlaib commented on the ongoing conflict in Gaza and the role of international leaders. She wrote, "Trump and War Criminal Netanyahu, perpetrators of the genocide, do not get to decide the future of Gaza. Palestinians get to determine the future of Palestine."
Later that day at 15:49 UTC, Tlaib called for student participation in a national competition. She stated, "Calling all middle and high school students in Michigan’s 12th District! Submit to the Congressional App Challenge to have your app displayed in the U.S. Capitol! The deadline is October 30th at 12:00 p.m. ET. To learn more or submit an app, visit https://t.co/1FSgUKr4gW."
At 17:25 UTC on the same day, she highlighted economic challenges faced by musicians and legislative efforts to address them. In her words: "People think musicians make a lot of money, but many of them are struggling to make ends meet. They need a thousand streams just to afford a cup of coffee. I joined music artists at the Capitol to reintroduce the Living Wage for Musicians Act to give them the pay they deserve."
Tlaib has represented Michigan’s 12th district since replacing Brenda Jones in Congress in 2019 and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there, she holds degrees from Wayne State University (BA) and Thomas M. Cooley Law School (JD).
