Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used her social media platform to highlight legislative efforts and recognize community caregivers.

On September 29, 2025, Tlaib promoted a bill aimed at supporting musicians: "The Living Wage for Musicians Act helps ensure that musicians get the pay they deserve." In a related post on the same day, she discussed the financial challenges faced by musicians in the streaming era: "Musicians would have to get more than 800,000 monthly streams to make as much as a $15/hour full-time job. Meanwhile, streaming platforms like Spotify rake in billions of profits."

Later that evening, Tlaib acknowledged family members providing care for children during Kinship Care Month: "September is Kinship Care Month. To every grandparent and relative stepping up to raise children, you are heroes. Your love keeps kids out of foster care and families together."

Tlaib has served as a member of Congress since 2019 after replacing Brenda Jones and previously represented her community in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there, she holds degrees from Wayne State University and Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
