Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing labor rights, a call for justice in a local death investigation, and concerns about an American minor detained abroad.

On September 16, 2025, Tlaib expressed her support for airline workers by posting: "Had a wonderful time with the hardworking airline workers of I AM Local 141 and their families at their annual picnic. I will always stand alongside them in their advocacy for workers’ rights."

The following day, she commented on the case of Trey Reed, stating: "Trey Reed should be alive. He deserved to grow old, to graduate college. The media is silent while his family mourns his loss. I fully support his family's demand for a thorough and transparent investigation. They deserve nothing less." This post was made on September 17, 2025.

Later that same day, Tlaib addressed the situation of an American teenager reportedly held in Israeli custody: "A 16-year-old American citizen has been trapped in an Israeli prison for 7 months. He has lost over 30 pounds and developed scabies. The Israeli government should not be able to take our children like this and not be held accountable. His family needs him home. Free Mohammed".

Tlaib has served as the representative for Michigan's 12th district since replacing Brenda Jones in 2019 and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. She was born in Detroit in 1976 and continues to reside there today. Her educational background includes a BA from Wayne State University (1998) and a JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2004).
