Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, posted a series of statements on September 9, 2025, addressing issues ranging from local education to international conflict and community support initiatives.
In a tweet published at 19:43 UTC, Tlaib criticized two public figures for their actions regarding education in Michigan. She wrote, "Linda McMahon and Matt Hall are existential threats to public education and our students in Detroit and across Michigan. How dare they use the students, teachers, and schools they're attacking and undermining as political props. Stay out of our community."
Later that evening at 20:58 UTC, Tlaib addressed foreign policy concerns related to Israel. She stated, "The Israeli government is again attempting to murder ceasefire negotiators, now bombing the capital of a U.S. ally with total impunity.
It is clear they have no interest in a ceasefire to end their genocide of Palestinians. We must stop funding and arming this insanity."
At 21:22 UTC on the same day, Tlaib highlighted her participation in a local event supporting community organizations. She posted, "At the Wayne Metro Community Action Agency's annual gathering, we celebrated the organizations and advocates who help our families with housing, Head Start, utility shutoffs, and more. Thank you for all that you do!"
Tlaib has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Brenda Jones as representative for Michigan’s 12th district. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, Tlaib holds degrees from Wayne State University (BA) and Thomas M. Cooley Law School (JD).
