Rashida Tlaib, U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan’s 12th district since 2019, made several statements on her social media account on September 9, 2025, addressing issues related to international law, Supreme Court decisions, and congressional oversight.

On the safety of activists aboard a humanitarian mission, Tlaib posted: "Grateful that the brave activists on board the Sumud Flotilla are safe. Any interception or attack on this crew is a violation of international law. They must be granted safe passage to deliver humanitarian aid and end the Israeli government’s blockade of Gaza." (September 9, 2025).

Later that day, she criticized a recent Supreme Court decision regarding immigration enforcement: "This is yet another corrupt Supreme Court power grab, giving ICE free reign to target our neighbors based on the color of their skin or speaking Spanish. This disgusting racial profiling is blatantly illegal. You'd learn this your first year of law school." (September 9, 2025).

In another post concerning congressional actions, Tlaib stated: "BREAKING: In the @USHouseFSC, we just moved to subpoena all of Jeffrey Epstein's unredacted financial transactions through JPMorgan Chase and other banks from the Treasury Department. Republicans voted to block the subpoena. Why are they trying to run cover for pedophiles?" (September 9, 2025).

Tlaib has been a member of Congress since replacing Brenda Jones in 2019 and previously served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2009 to 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976 and currently residing there, Tlaib holds a BA from Wayne State University and earned her JD from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2004.
