Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, who represents Michigan’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 24, 2025, addressing legislative efforts related to artificial intelligence and expressing support for international political causes.

In a post published at 17:54 UTC, Tlaib announced her participation in new legislation: "Proud to join @RepCasar in introducing the Stop AI Price Gouging and Wage Fixing Act to ban companies from using sensitive personal information to raise prices or lower wages. Consumers deserve fair & transparent prices and employees should be fully compensated for their work."

Later that day at 18:45 UTC, she voiced appreciation for Sinn Féin President Mary Lou McDonald’s stance on Gaza and broader political aspirations: "Sinn Féin President @MaryLouMcDonald is not afraid to speak truth to power. I am grateful for her commitment to ending the genocide in Gaza. May we live to see a free Palestine and a United Ireland. "

At 20:23 UTC, Tlaib shared an update from Capitol Hill with Mosab Abu Toha, describing his experiences as a survivor from Gaza: "I'm at the Capitol with Mosab Abu Toha, a teacher, poet, and genocide survivor who escaped Gaza after losing dozens of his family members. We are here to call on my colleagues and government officials to stop funding the genocide in Gaza."

Tlaib has served as the representative for Michigan's 12th District since 2019 after succeeding Brenda Jones. She previously held office in the Michigan House of Representatives between 2009 and 2014. Born in Detroit in 1976, Tlaib continues to reside there today. Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wayne State University (1998) and a Juris Doctor from Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2004).
